NLC to tackle governors over unpaid salaries

The Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) on Thursday said it will handle state governors over non-installment and cuts in the pay rates of specialists in a few states.

The NLC president, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the congress would meet with all its state boards to urge them to react successfully to a portion of the difficulties in the states.

"In any case, when they are taking such choices, they additionally must be exceptionally adjusted in taking such choice. It ought not just apply to specialists.

"Political office holders are as yet gathering their cash despite the fact that they are proposing the diminishment, they are as yet gathering the security vote we are discussing and they are as yet issuing counterfeit contracts."

He said most nations that had encountered economy retreat, needed to think about all interests before choosing to either cut pay rates or stop installment of laborers.

Wabba clarified that compensations were not a designation to specialists, but rather compensations earned in accordance with universal best practices and in consonance with Convention 138 of the International Labor Organization.
