I'm a superior mentor in view of Jose Mourinho's competition - Pep Guardiola

Kick Guardiola has given his first public interview as Manchester City supervisor. While addressing the press, the previous Bayern Munich and Barcelona mentor conceded that his contention with Jose Mourinho while the pair were at Barcelona and Real Madrid separately has improved him a director.

Barca were the subject of consistent Mourinho spikes, and the nadir came when the Portuguese jabbed Guardiola's colleague Tito Vilanova in the eye amid a touchline fight in August 2011.

"I think Jose put it entirely well in his question and answer session," City's new head mentor said. "It's not about him or about me.

"We played commonly against each other, and I can just say as a mentor that the enormous mentors - and Jose is obviously one of them - help me to achieve another level as a mentor.

"My experience against him and against, for instance, Jurgen Klopp or Thomas Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund and a considerable measure of chiefs in England and Spain - it improved me.

"All administrators on the planet need to win and here they're going to attempt to win also."

"Each stage is a major test," he said. "It could be the greatest on the grounds that City have not won the same number of titles as Barcelona or Bayern yet I can't reply. Perhaps when you assumed control throughout the second group from Barcelona [in 2007] it was the hardest in light of the fact that in the event that I fizzled at that time my profession would be done.

"We need to win each day. I perceive how troublesome it is in England to discover a group to win four, five, six diversions consecutively. Every one of the general population discuss that. Possibly that is the test, to attempt to be more reliable in our diversion, however I think in my vocation individuals are continually going to request [success of] my groups … yet at last that is great. It is ideal to live under that weight so I think you need to see, possibly we won't have the capacity to win, perhaps we won't win each day yet we are going to attempt and that is the imperative thing to change in our play."
