A woman reportedly collapse yesterday in court after her son was sentenced to death by hanging for the murder of Kano Business Tycoon and a philanthropist and Yoruba Leader.
Justice Kabiru Auta of a High court on Wednesday, June 22, sentenced Abubakar Abdulrahaman who is also known as Daddy to death by hanging.
the accused who is 28 years of age was found guilty on a count charge of homicide punishable with death was discharged and acquitted in another charge of armed robbery.
Nation gathered that Abubakar was accused of murdering Chief Alh. Bello of the 5th of June 2014 at his residence on the night of the day of the incident in the government residential area in Nasarawa state opposite Kano race course were the disease was stabbed with a knife to death.
The prosecution led by Bar. M.M Suleman of the state ministry of Justice and assisted by the nominal complainant counsel, J.I. Macaulay of Kehinde Olaitan Chamber called on seven witnesses both tendered several exhibit which includes the knife that was by the accused to carry out the operation and a blackberry handset belonging to the deceased with which he inserted his own sim card.
The Lawyer of the accused, a counsel from the Legal Aid council, Barr. Adamu made his plea urged the court to temper Justice with mercy because of his aged mother, wife and children, but the plea was denied.
