INEC has earlier today issued a certificate of return to His Excellency Uche Ogah, the governor of Abia state (PDP) following the directives of the Abuja Federal High Court on Monday June 27th insinuating that the electoral body to immediately issued him a certificate of return to office to Ogah who came second at the people's Democratic Party's primary election in the state in 2014.
The State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has alleged in a statement reacting to the statement reacting to the development, said he still remain the executive governor of the state even if he fails in an appeal against the ruling
the statement reads below;
" i received with concern of reports regarding the issuance of certificate of return to the office of the governor to Mr Uche Ogah by INEC as the governor of Abia State, despite the notice of the court of appeal and motion for stay of the orders made by justice okon Abang of the Federal High Court Abuja.
our laws are clear on this issues, any one who have been issued a certificate of return let alone be sworn in as a governor, when there is a subsistng appeal and application of stay in the office.
i want to use this medium to apeal to my fellow Abians to stay clam and abide by the laws governing the state and the face of provocation, the fact is that i am still the governor of the state he stated.
