Polish Olympian sells Rio silver medal to help 3-year-old boy with eye cancer

Polish discus thrower Piotr Malachowski sold the silver decoration he won at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics to pay for the pharmaceutical of a 3-year-old kid experiencing eye tumor.

Malachowski composed, by interpretation: "In Rio I battled for gold," "Today, I engage everybody - we should quarrel together over something that is much all the more valuable. The wellbeing of this incredible kid."

As per Malachowski, the method to treat the uncommon type of growth isn't accessible in Poland; it is offered just in New York.

Malachowski said on Facebook that kin Dominika and Sebastian Kulczyk, who are among the wealthiest Poles, "announced the goal to purchase my silver decoration," which he set available to be purchased to pay for treatment of the kid, Olek, who is experiencing retinoblastoma.

Malachowski did not uncover the sum he raised by offering his award on Friday, yet said the objective, which was practically $130,000, has been met.

"My silver decoration is worth a great deal more today than it was a week back," Malachowski said.
