Mr Isaiah Amariri, the Enugu State Controller of Nigeria Prisons Service, said on Thursday that six of the detainees that got away from Nsukka Prisons on Tuesday night, have been re-captured.
Amariri, who gave the figure to newsmen in Nsukka, however declined to give the accurate number of detainees that got away from the jail.
He said the jail administration was liaising with security specialists and group gatherings to catch the rest of the got away detainees.
He said, "There was an escape in Nsukka detainment facilities on Tuesday night somewhere around 12pm and 3am, in which numerous prisoners got away, however six of them have been re-captured.
"I can't give the definite figure for the time being as examinations are still on.
"We will send our discoveries to the Controller General of Prisons who will make open the definite number and reason for Nsukka detainment facilities escape.
"The administration is liaising with security specialists and group vigilante gatherings to know the den of those still on the keep running so as to re-capture them."
He guaranteed that any authority prosecuted the course of the examination would be rebuffed.
He said, "After examinations on the escape, any individual in the administration found to have been included or helped the Tuesday escape will be captured and arraigned regardless of his or her position.
He said, "Security has been amplified in and around Nsukka penitentiaries with genuine observation on the detainment facilities offices, prisoners and staff.
"The penitentiaries powers are on top of the circumstance and will set up measures to stay away from a rehash of what happened on Tuesday night in Nsukka."
The controller requested the assistance of the overall population who may have data on the whereabouts of the escaping prisoners, to answer to applicable security organizations.
"We request for assistance from the overall population who may have data about the escaping detainees to feel free and call jails powers or security specialists to empower them re-capture the escapees.
"We guarantee that such data will be given the secrecy it merits and source character will be completely ensured."
As per Amariri, the Nsukka Prisons was built up a hundred years back with the first limit of 168 detainees, however right now harbors 264 detainees.
