ASUU Bemoans Non-release of Needs Assessment Intervention Fund Since 2014

                             

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has censured the national government's non-execution of the ASUU/FGN Memorandum of Understanding of November 2013 which expressed that Nigerian colleges required 1.3 trillion for their revitalisation to contend positively with their partners the world over.


Instructions writer at the University of Lagos yesterday, the Lagos Zone of the union said the sum depended on the result of the national government-directed Needs Assessment of Public Universities in July 2012.

The union expressed that in the December 11, 2013 MoU, government consented to discharge the mediation stores in six portions over a time of six years beginning with N200 billion in 2013 and consequent installment of N220 billion each in the staying five years traversing 2014-2018, however lamented that administration is financially past due of N605 billion as at the second from last quarter of 2016.

As per the Coordinator of the ASUU Lagos Zone, Prof. Olusiji Sowande, "the suggestion is that administration is not dedicated to the full usage of this part of our understanding. The subsidizing emergency is truly affecting contrarily on the condition of foundation and examination offices in our colleges.
