"This week we viewed Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, two honest dark men, get pointlessly killed by cops. Like a great deal of you all, I viewed the recordings, and was horrified and totally grief stricken. I was left stunned, furious and numb.
I need my kids to grow up realizing that their lives matter. I absolutely never need to need to instruct my child to be terrified of the police, or let him know that he needs to watch his back in light of the fact that the general population we are advised to believe—the general population who "ensure and serve"— may not secure and serving him due to the shade of his skin. The exact opposite thing we need is to fuel outrage with more abhor or viciousness, particularly toward the numerous inconceivable cops who chance their lives each and every day to ensure our families and groups. We should calmly utilize the force of our voices and the quality of our numbers to request changes in the legal framework with the goal that ruthlessness doesn't ever go unpunished. It is our obligation as Americans and as guardians to make a protected future for our kids. We should accomplish something NOW. We should talk up until we are heard and genuine, successful changes are made. Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland, Sean Bell … and tragically such a variety of something beyond. Hashtags are insufficient. This must end now."
